What happened

On August 29, Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office deputies in Oregon responded to reports of gunfire at professional tree workers near a rural home on South Rocky Bluff Lane, south of Portland. Officials identified the suspect as Erik Gordon Shunn, 53, and said he fired more than 200 rounds during the incident, including at a sheriff’s drone, and used a compact tractor to knock down trees. A SWAT vehicle later rammed the tractor, pinning it against the house, and officers took Shunn into custody. No injuries were reported, including to Shunn’s mother, who was inside the home. He was charged with second-degree attempted murder and other offenses and held without bail at the Clackamas County Jail.

Omitted — what each side leaves out

Unpacked

Left-leaning coverage is entirely silent, so its readers have no account of the shooting or arrest. Right-leaning coverage reports that Shunn fired more than 200 rounds at arborists and a drone before SWAT rammed his tractor against the house after he left his rifle. No injuries were reported, his mother was unharmed, first responders evacuated nearby workers, and he is held without bail on attempted-murder charges. Right-leaning outlets also differ in their wording for the same man. Daily Wire describes a "trigger-happy suspect" while Fox News reports an armed neighbor who fired at professional arborists. Both still emphasize the ramming as the end of the standoff. How did a man prohibited from possessing firearms still have the weapons he used in the standoff?
Bottom line

Left-leaning outlets ran nothing on the Oregon standoff, so their audience missed Shunn firing more than 200 rounds and the SWAT tractor ramming that Fox News and Daily Wire both covered.

The Right View
Fox News, The Daily Wire, and Breitbart covered the incident using Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office statements and drone video of a SWAT vehicle ramming Shunn’s tractor. They reported that Shunn allegedly fired more than 200 rounds at arborists and a police drone, tried to create a barricade with the tractor, and was pinned against the house after becoming separated from a rifle. Coverage highlighted the video, the charge list including attempted murder, that no one was hurt, a possible property dispute over the trees, prior stalking protective orders, a firearms prohibition, and neighbor comments about a change in Shunn after relatives were murdered years earlier.
Our Take (balanced)
The story is substantive: it involves a named suspect, a named agency, a specific date and address, video described by officials, and filed charges. Established so far are the sheriff’s account of the response, the tractor being rammed by a SWAT vehicle, Shunn’s arrest and no-bail detention, the listed charges, and the report of no injuries. The 200-round figure, shots at workers and a drone, and Shunn’s motives remain allegations from law enforcement and have not been proven in court. No left-leaning outlet has reported this. Watch for charging documents, court records, full drone or bodycam video, and any official updates that confirm or revise the round count and property-line dispute.
