What happened
On or around Thursday following Macklemore’s Wednesday Instagram post, children’s YouTube entertainer Rachel Griffin Accurso (Ms. Rachel) said she would match rapper Macklemore’s pledged $1 million donation from Ed Sheeran Loop Tour earnings to Palestinian aid groups, naming the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, and invited “every wealthy White celebrity” to match it and “speak out against the genocide in Gaza.” Macklemore had been dropped as an opening act after “Free Palestine” remarks and a performance of his song “Hind’s Hall” at MetLife Stadium; New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft then declined to host him at Gillette Stadium. Kraft said he had already committed $2 million to Palestinian aid. Accurso also stated that more than 20,000 Palestinian children had been killed and that celebrity silence would not occur if the children were White.
Sourcing check · Fully on the record · 3 articles
3 of 3 articles cite a named source for the story. It was on the record from the first report.
What these terms mean and how they're counted
- On the record · names a source 3 of 3
- On the record means the article cites a source by name for the story's main claim: a person, or an institution speaking officially, such as a company statement or a named agency's spokesperson. The opposite is an unnamed source. The count is how many of the counted articles cite at least one such source; the names are everyone named across them, each once however the articles spell it. Here: Ms. Rachel, Macklemore and Rachel Griffin Accurso
- Primary evidence · cites a document or data 0 of 3
- Primary evidence means the article cites a record you could check yourself: a court filing or ruling, a dataset or report, a recording or transcript, an official statement or press release, market data. A quote is not a document. The count is how many articles cite one. Here: None cited.
- Credits another outlet 0 of 3
- The article says the story comes from another outlet's reporting (“first reported by Reuters”). Those articles relay the story; they are not independent confirmation. Here: Each article presents its own reporting.
- Unnamed sources 0 of 3
- The main claim is attributed to people who are not identified: “people familiar with the matter”, “officials said”. The count is how many articles do this.
- How it developed
- When the first report landed and whether it named anyone; when the first named source and the first document appeared. Here: First report Sep 18, 01:00 UTC by Fox News, naming its source.
- Not counted 0
- Opinion, analysis and video pieces, and articles too short to assess. Every count above is out of the counted articles. An article republished under a new headline is one article.

ONE-SIDED THIS WEEK.
Only right-leaning outlets have covered this story in the last two days;
The Hill reported it on 2026-09-17.
Omitted — what each side leaves out
Unpacked
Left-leaning coverage has not reported the story. Right-leaning coverage says Ms. Rachel pledged to match Macklemore's donation and invited "every wealthy White celebrity" to do the same and speak out against genocide in Gaza. Macklemore said the gift was $1 million in tour earnings after he was dropped as Ed Sheeran's opener. Fox News also reports she said treating some children's lives as less worthy of outrage is racist. A reader of the silent side would miss both the race-specific fundraising ask and that a children's YouTube star is making it.
Among themselves, right-leaning outlets split the backstory. Daily Wire leads with Accurso having liked a comment that read "Free America from the Jews." Fox News instead airs a rabbi's charge that she delayed any comment on Israeli children held hostage.
Did Ms. Rachel's matching gift actually go out, and did any wealthy White celebrity match it?
Bottom line
Fox News and Daily Wire both ran Ms. Rachel's invite for wealthy White celebrities to match Macklemore's $1 million Gaza donation; left-leaning outlets have not.
The receipts — 4 facts one side's coverage lacks
- Macklemore named six recipient groups, including the UNRWA USA National Committee and ANERA
- Accurso serves as an ambassador for the Palestine Children's Relief Fund
- Kraft said his stadium would not provide a platform for hate speech
- Rabbi Yaakov Menken said Accurso focuses on Gaza while 35.5 million children suffer acute malnutrition across Africa, the Middle East and Asia
The Right View
Fox News, The Daily Wire, and Breitbart reported Accurso’s matching pledge and her specific invitation to wealthy White celebrities, tying it to Macklemore’s $1 million pledge to PCRF, HEAL Palestine, Gaza Soup Kitchen, Medical Aid for Palestinians, UNRWA USA, and ANERA after he was cut from Sheeran’s tour. They highlighted her “genocide” language, the 20,000-children claim, her PCRF ambassadorship, Kraft’s $2 million response, and prior controversies: Accurso liking a “Free America from the Jews” comment (which she called accidental) and Macklemore’s costume critics said resembled a Jewish caricature. Fox quoted Rabbi Yaakov Menken arguing her focus on Gaza versus other child-hunger crises and delayed hostage comments showed something other than concern for children. Breitbart noted Iranian outlet Al Mayadeen amplifying Macklemore.
Our Take (balanced)
The story is substantive: it rests on named public figures, public Instagram posts, a publicly announced $1 million pledge, and a documented tour-booking change, not on anonymous or uncorroborated claims. Established: Accurso posted the White-celebrity matching invitation and genocide wording; Macklemore announced the donation after being dropped over Gaza-related stage remarks; Kraft publicly declined to host him and cited prior aid. Unverified in these reports: whether the pledged funds were transferred, the accuracy of the 20,000-child figure, and the factual/legal status of “genocide.” No left-leaning outlet has reported this. Watch for charity confirmations or receipts, responses from named celebrities, and any correction or follow-up from Accurso.
